new lana del rey

If you haven't heard it yet, Lana Del Rey's new track for Great Gatsby came out a few days ago. LISTEN LISTEN LISTEN

april....you have almost killed me

I've been terrible about blogging in april, and its because my job has completely overtaken my life.

As a recent college graduate who has been in the working world for a mere 8 months now (this may sound like a long time but I'll tell you, 8 months flew by pretty freaking fast), work is still quite the adjustment for me. For those of you that are still in school, I remember how tough that is as well, and I know that going back, when I eventually do, is going to be an adjustment. However, the working world is stressful and exhausting in entirely different ways.

First of all, you'd think 9 to 5 in an office with (technically) nothing to do after work would be much more relaxing. Unfortunately, I've found that work is far more emotionally demanding during the day. I usually come home and find myself pretty much completely exhausted and ready to curl up on the couch. After classes in college, I think I had a lot more motivation to do other things. Secondly, going out on the weekends can actually be a huge hit. When you've been drinking for 2 days straight (sometimes 3), and have minimal recovery time before you pull your butt out of bed at 7am the next day to roll into work, its really unpleasant and makes getting through a day pretty difficult. Going out on weekdays is even worse. I've done it and definitely thought I was dying the next day.

Basically, I'm trying to adjust to this whole working thing. I'm not saying I don't like the whole job thing, as cheesy as it sounds, I'm learning a lot. But, its a definite change from my regular life, especially as the nerd that loved school as much as I did.

But I welcome any new experiences and adjustments. I'll be a better person for it right?

my new mantra

springtime in atlanta

After two incredibly crazy weeks at work, I finally got the chance to take a long lunch. Its 80 degrees here, and a friend I work with and I got to sit out on the patio of a Mexican restaurant (for those of you ATL natives that haven't tried Tijuana Garage, they have an awesome patio). I was pretty amazed at how quickly the sunshine and beautiful temperature lifted my mood and calmed me down. I'm hoping to go on a nice run after work and enjoy even more time outside.

Even though Spring in Atlanta is pretty short (yep, those 90-100 degree temperatures aren't too far away), its a time I always thoroughly enjoy. Hopefully I get to spend some more time out on patios. And when the ridiculously hot temperatures come, at least I'll get to tan right?
